Carpathian Bears, ready for Moscow Open

Romanian 3×3 basketball team Carpathian Bears are ready to hit the court at the Moscow Open 2012, on 28th of August. They are compared in the presentation from the official website with the NBA champions Miami Heat.

Angel Santana, one of the most loved players in Moscow, after the show he put on during the 2010 edition, will return for the Bears this year, ready to entertain the crowd and also to bring useful points on the court for his team.

Santana was the best scorer of the 2010 edition but he is remembered in Moscow mainly for his “signature funny moves” as the official presentation says.

Together with Santana, will head to Moscow some of the best 3×3 basketball players from Romania, Alin Spahiu, Catalin Vlaicu, Aurel Urucatu and Vlad Ardeleanu, all of them multiple winners at Sport Arena Streetball.

The Bears will fight for record prizes. The winning team will get 20.000 USD, the second place will take home 10.000 USD and the semifinalists will receive 4000 USD each.

Here is the official presentation of the Carpathian Bears on the Moscow Open’s website:

We are the best u can find around the Carpathians, – says the Bears. They are not shy at all! Maybe Bears not the skilled one but heavyest team of the tournament for sure. It is hard to win low post battles against such physical squad. Good rebounding team. During one of Bears’ player shot rest cut through the paint and take the ball. Similar style NBA champions Miami Heat playing, LeBron James and Dwayne Wade runs right to the glass from perimeter grabbing tons of boards. Upcoming games will show us how effective this tactic really is. The Carpatians Bears leader is legendary Angel Santana. He’s so famous not because of his titles but his showtime staff on the court. I’m not talking about crossovers, dunks and crazy buzzer-bitters, I’m talking about snoots, permanent smile and signature funny moves. He likes to communicate with the crowd feeling energy from it. Two years ago when Romania won quarterfinal Santana begun to dance. His teammates picked up dance too under big applause. That was pure improvisation and one of the best moments of Moscow Open history.
