Sport Arena Streetball, basketball and fun in Bucharest

The Sport Arena Streetball Championship, a FIBA 3×3 World Tour Qualifier, scheduled the first of its five tournaments last weekend, and the weather was not a good teammate at all.

But if the rain never stopped for almost three days in Bucharest, so was the basketball. A gym, situated near the Sport Arena Streetball state of the art outdoor facility, was the perfect place to make the deadliest crossover on the rain and to keep playing no matter what.

And the show went on and on, from Friday afternoon until late Sunday evening, where the best teams, after coming a long way, fought for the victory in the finals.

108 teams, a record for the competition, battled to win the tournament title in the Plus 18 Male category, and 200 teams overall showcased their best basketball during the weekend.

The highest stakes were in the Plus 18 Male category, with the teams fighting to qualify for the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Madrid.

The road to Madrid is not a walk in the park at all. We will find out who will represent Romania in the FIBA competition only in the beginning of August, after the four regular tournaments and the one Master Tournament.

All the participants left home not only with the joy to play basketball but also with a present, the official competition jersey. Since its first edition, held in 2005, Sport Arena Streetball is maintaining this tradition, that every player, winner or not, will receive a prize at the end of the day.
