Romania, sixth place at the FIBA 3×3 WC for juniors

The U18 Romanian national team finished sixth at the FIBA 3×3 World Championships, in Spain, reaching the quarter finals.

Our boys were eliminated by Canada in the Last 8 Round, after a very tough game, 17-19 after the final whistle. The Romanian NT finished on the sixth place with a 6-3 record overall, behind Serbia, the new world champions, United States, France, Canada and Russia.

Otherwise, Vlad Stoicoviciu and Andrei Damian took the bronze medals in the 2Ball shooting contest, finishing on the third place together with Holland.

The Romanian NT, with Vlad Stoicoviciu, Dimitris Rasty, Andrei Damian si Georgian Paun, the first three of them being regular participants at Sport Arena Streetball tournaments, finished the group phase on the third place, with a 5-2 records.

The most crucial game was against Slovenia, with the qualification in the eliminatory round on the table. Our guys delivered their best performance, dominating both in the offense and defense and offering some good reasons to cheer for the fans, with two monster dunks. The final score, 18-13, brought the Romanian team among the Last 16.

There a complete and hard-working Swiss team was waiting. It was a real battle for every point and every possession, but in the end Stoicoviciu & Co finished the job once more, advancing among the best eight teams in the world.

In the World Championships Women, the Romanian National Team on the 11th place, losing in the Last 16 Round against Lithuania, 3-21. The overall record was 4-2, but after some very good games in the group phase, the girls came empty in the eliminatory round and ended their experience at the WC in a disappointing way.
