Epic Finale for the 2025 BCR Sport Arena Streetball: Legends, Celebrities & Thousands of Fans Hit the Court

From football icons like Bogdan Stelea, Marius Niculae, and Ionel Dănciulescu, to athletes from hockey, rugby, and volleyball — all accepted the challenge to step onto the 3×3 court for the grand finale of the 2025 BCR Sport Arena Streetball season. The event took place this weekend in front of the City Hall of Bucharest’s Sector 1.

Among the special guests were actor Șerban Pavlu, who reminisced about his high school basketball days at Ion Neculce, and entertainer Horia Brenciu, who passionately cheered for his son Toma, playing in the U12 official category of the 3×3 tournament.

Over 2,000 people took part in this urban sports festival, stretching over 500 meters in the City Hall parking lot. More than 400 players competed in the official 3×3 basketball tournament, celebrating the 20th season of Sport Arena Streetball history.

Celebrity Game Highlights

Bogdan Stelea and Ionuț Badea stood out in the Celebrity Game, which also featured Gică Mihali, Ionel Dănciulescu, Marius Niculae, basketball legends Virgil Stănescu and Hristu Șapera, volleyball star Larisa Vasilică, and the Mayor of Sector 1, George Tuță.

Ionuț Badea showed impressive court vision, delivering several flashy assists that got the crowd roaring, while “Arnold” Stelea dominated in the paint, leading his team to an 11-6 win.

Hockey Sticks on the Court

Players from Sportul Studențesc’s rugby and hockey teams also accepted the 3×3 challenge. They were supported on-court by Rapid București 3×3 player Alexandra Bobar and coach Seda Erdogan. In a tight contest, the hockey team came out on top, 5-4 — then brought out their sticks and pucks for a surprise finale.

Champions Crowned in High-Intensity Finals

Romanian 3×3 national team members Mihnea Brie and Mihai Stănescu, alongside teammates Matei Curea and Ukrainian standout Oleh Bondarenko, won the Open Men’s title with MBM Team, defeating UPT Pitbulls from Timișoara 15-10 in the final. Brie was named Tissot MVP and received a Swiss timepiece courtesy of Albini Prassa.

The most thrilling game was in the U21 Women’s final. Amira Bouchedid drained a clutch 2-pointer in overtime, giving Farul Constanța a 13-12 win over “Na situație”. Bouchedid was awarded Horizon Rising Star MVP, with the men’s version going to Robert Spoitoru of team Belelele.

Inclusion Through Basketball

3×3 basketball also served as a platform for inclusion and accessibility. Wheelchair basketball matches were organized in partnership with Motivation Romania Foundation, and Unified Basketball games took place in collaboration with Special Olympics Romania, showing once again that sports go beyond physical health — they help build communities.

Over 10 Urban Sports Zones

Fans enjoyed a wide variety of urban sports zones including: volleyball, table tennis, foot-tennis, pickleball, badminton, mini-basketball, mini-football, jump rope, skateboarding, dance, gaming, and custom fan games — all open from morning to evening.

Athletes from Rapid București, Sportul Studențesc, CSM București, and Sport Team Football Academy held their training sessions in the event area. Volleyball legend Dan Gîrleanu, Olympic bronze medalist and current youth coordinator at CSM București, led several training sessions.

Hot Jumps and Vlad Chirilă brought the joy of jumping rope back to all ages, blending fun with fitness.

Slam Dunk… on a Skateboard!

The skate team from SPOT – Bucharest’s only indoor skatepark – amazed the crowd with demos and workshops. A highlight: they recreated a slam-dunk off a skateboard, reviving a legendary moment from the 2015 Bucharest Challenger.

From aerial acrobatics by Face Team (holders of 15 Guinness Records), to the jaw-dropping stunts of Circul Metropolitan București performers – Duo Badea, Bobi, Mihail, and Matei – the entertainment soared, literally.

iSports Dancers cheerleaders brought energy between games, turning the weekend into a true show.
