Ready, play, dunk! Nike 3×3 Challenge kicks off Romanian 3×3 season

It only took five minutes to fill all the spots for Nike 3×3 Challenge, the season opener for the Romanian 3×3 calendar. The 13th season organized by Sport Arena Streetball kicks off this week, in Bucharest, and has already broken registration records, proving that basketball fans have dearly missed their weekly meetings with the soon-to-be Olympic sport.

More than 200 players will take on the three courts set at ParkLake Shopping Center for the first Romanian 3×3 tournament in the 2017 season. The newly launched mall turns, for three days (May 5-7), into the perfect place for meeting the basketball urban experience and nature.

More than 70 teams have sent in the registrations forms in the first five minutes when the online sign-in procedure was launched on Sport Arena Streetball’s dedicated platform, www.3la3.ro. A total of 56 teams will take part in the competition set for all four age categories, both for men and women: U14, U18, Open (18+) and Senior (35+). The best 3×3 teams in Romania, but also teams from Serbia and Bulgaria will resume battle in the Open division for points in the FIBA 3×3 World Rankings, 1000 euros prize money for the winners and a total of 6000 euros value-in-kind prizes.

While 3×3 basketball awaits the International Olympic Committee’s final ruling this summer on becoming a discipline on the Olympic roster, Sport Arena Streetball, one of the long-term promoters of European and global 3×3, has plenty of surprises for the ever-growing young fan-base in Romania. For the second year in a row, the national competition schedules 10 stops, and the big tour final will grant access to a FIBA 3×3 World Tour leg, this time in Debrecen.

Da Move Crew will spice up the season opener, with their famous Harlem Globetrotter-like routines, thus putting the final piece in an entertaining 3-day experience for the 3×3 fans in Bucharest, whom we dare to show their own moves during specially designed contests.

The 13th season organized by Sport Arena Streetball will reach its climax on August 12-13, with the 6th edition of the Raiffeisen Bank Bucharest Challenger, a traditional rendezvous for top 3×3 basketball players, that brought to the Romanian capital-city no less than 10 World Tour teams in 2016.
