Full summer without restrictions: A perfect 3×3 basketball season is upon us at Sport Arena Streetball

The 17th season of Sport Arena Streetball is approaching its debut and, for the first time in more than two years, there will be no restrictions on events. The first tournament takes place between May 13 and 15, on the grounds of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest, the birthplace of the 3×3 phenomenon, where over 600 players are expected.

Registrations for all tournaments are made on the official website, 3la3.ro, and all players are required to have an active account on the platform of the International Basketball Federation, play.fiba3x3.com. The points accumulated by each player are thus accounted for in Romania and can contribute to the qualification of the national teams in various international competitions.

Registrations for the first tournament start on Monday, May 9, from 15.00 and are made in the limit of 150 teams, cumulatively, in all categories. The participation fee for the entire 2022 season will be 150 lei. Each player will receive the official jersey of the competition.

The start of the new outdoor competition season has been long awaited by players and spectators, and some of the most representative players at the Sport Arena Streetball tournaments have expressed their passion for 3×3 in a short film promoting the competition.

The 17th season of Sport Arena Streetball has four regular tournaments and a final on the calendar, which will feature the best players throughout the season. The champion of the Men’s Open category will have the tickets for one stop on the world circuit, FIBA 3×3 World Tour, the French Masters. The final tournament will be dedicated exclusively to Romanian teams and players from Romania, and thus our country will have the chance to be present an the elite of world 3×3 basketball for the first time in seven years.

The best two teams in each category will be rewarded at each tournament, and a series of individual prizes will be awarded to the most valuable and promising players.

For the first time, a new age group,  U21, has been introduced to ensure more competitive matches for young players who are moving from the lower categories to the Open.

As every year, the individual competitions will not miss at the Sport Arena Streetball tournaments. There will be challenges for both for players and spectators, special guests and entertainment moments.

The Sport Arena Streetball Tour calendar for 2022 includes five community events (May 13-15, June 10-12, July 1-3, August 12-14 and the September 2-4 final). Sport Arena Streetball will also host five international events: FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup Qualifier, Constanța, June 4-5, two stages of the FIBA 3×3 Nations League (July 15-17 and August 5-7), FIBA 3×3 Finals (Nations League and Women’s Series), Constanța, September 15-18 as well as the FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup – World Youth Championship which will take place in Bucharest on October 5-9.
