Celebration of sports at the final BCR Sport Arena Streetball tournament of 2024

The final of the BCR Sport Arena Streetball national 3×3 basketball circuit will be a true celebration of sports, featuring the anniversary of Romania’s European title in 3×3 basketball, the introduction of pickleball, the latest sports sensation, decisive 3×3 basketball matches, and numerous other activities, both sporting and cultural.

The event, which will take place from Friday to Sunday, will also mark the last tournament hosted at the current Poli Arena setup, the venue where the journey of 3×3 basketball from the streets to the Olympic Games began in October 2005. The basketball courts will undergo a modernization process carried out by Politehnica University of Bucharest.

The best teams from the 2024 season, across all age categories, will compete for the championship titles at BCR Sport Arena Streetball, with cash prizes and gifts provided by the event’s partners. The total prize pool amounts to €15,000. The complete schedule, results, and official statistics can be found in the Sport Arena App, available on Google Play and the App Store.

Over 550 teams and 2,400 players participated throughout this season in the five BCR Sport Arena Streetball tournaments, which featured almost 800 3×3 basketball games.

The champion teams will be decided in Bucharest, following a national circuit that, for the first time since the pandemic, made stops in three other cities in Romania: Brașov, Iași, and Timișoara.

A Decade Since Romania’s European Title in 3×3 Basketball
The only European title in the history of Romanian basketball, won by the Romanian 3×3 national team in 2014 in Bucharest, will be celebrated at Politehnica on Saturday evening, marking exactly ten years since that magical night in Piața Universității.

The four players who secured the gold medals by defeating Slovenia in the final, Angel Santana, Bogdan Popescu, Cătălin Vlaicu, and Vasile Ștefan, will be part of a special moment on the courts where they trained for this achievement.

Pickleball Takes Romania by Storm
Becoming extremely popular in recent years in the United States, pickleball is a sport that combines elements of table tennis, tennis, and badminton. It is played in singles or doubles on a court similar in size to a badminton court, with the net set at a tennis-like height.

A pickleball court will be set up at Poli Arena with the official playing surface, and anyone can sign up for ad-hoc matches or participate in contests and demonstrations, complementing the concept of outdoor movement and family fun that BCR Sport Arena Streetball has promoted throughout this season.

The fun will continue with numerous prize competitions in the fan zone, the traditional slam-dunk and mini-dunk contests, dance moments, and a party that will take place on Saturday evening after the games conclude.
