3×3 basketball DOC-tor! A famous rapper entered the competition at Raiffeisen Bank Politehnica Streetball

Vlad Munteanu aka DOC, one of the most popular artists of the Romanian hip-hop industry chilled for one week-end on the 3×3 basketball court at Raiffeisen Bank Politehnica Streetball.

Playing with his friend for the plus 35 age category, DOC was surprised to see the level reached by this discipline. “Once a school yard and a playground affair, 3×3 basketball seems now very professional and is extraordinary that basically anyone can play in such a good organized environment”, stated the rapper, who, like anyone else registered in the tournament, received points in the FIBA 3×3 World Rankings.

More than 500 participants played on the famous Politehnica courts, the homeground of Romanian 3×3 basketball. Epic Jam from Serbia in Open Men category and Spontaneous Team, with the silver Europe Cup medalists Sonia Ursu and Andra Haas in the team, in Open Women category were the big winners.

Radu Avramescu (Marine Fish Team) posted a whooping 57 points scored performance in five games, while Cosmin Barbu from the legedary Choco Loco team was „the sniper” with 16 made shots from beyond the arc.

Even she lost the women’s final against her former teammates from the National Team, Anca Sipos was the best scorer in the ladies competition with 41 points in five games.

The U18 Romanian National Team crashed the opponents in the respective age category. The boys are preparing for the FIBA U18 World Cup, which will start at the end of June in China and they showed some stiffling defense, keeping the opponents under 10 points scored in each game.

Mircea Popa, general secretary of Romanian Sports and Youth Ministry presented the awards. Raiffeisen Bank Politehnica Streetball, part of the Sport Arena Streetball Tour 2017, was supported by Raiffeisen Bank, Fitbit, Nike, Gatorade, Ursus, Kiss FM and organized with the support of the Bucharest Youth and Sports Directorate and the University of Politehnica Bucharest.
