3×3 is Back at the Bucharest Circus

The 10th stop of the FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series 2026 will take place at one of the most iconic venues in 3×3 basketball. After hosting the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup in 2018 and the U23 World Cup in 2022, the Bucharest Metropolitan Circus will welcome some of the best women’s players in the world on July 1-2, 2026. The event is organized by Sector 2 of Bucharest City Hall, with the support of the Romanian Basketball Federation.

The Netherlands enter as the top seed, fresh off claiming victory at the Women’s Series stop on home soil in Amsterdam. The 2026 World Cup bronze medalists will look to add more points and climb the overall standings.

Amsterdam stop MVP Noortje Driessen knows this venue well, having competed here at the U23 World Cup in 2022, where she helped her team claim bronze. In Amsterdam, the Netherlands defeated Rapid in the final and now the script is flipped, as Netherlands will face team Romania in the pool stage, this time with the romanians playing in front of their own fans.

The Netherlands also have history at the Circus from 2018, when they claimed bronze at the FIBA 3×3 Europe Cup. They will be looking for gold this time around in Bucharest.

Speaking of Romania, the event marks a historic first for the country, as three Romanian teams will represent the nation on home soil. At least one all-Romanian clash is guaranteed, with Rapid, the second seed, set to face team Bucharest in Pool B.

Standing between the Romanian squads and a place in the final are sides like Germany, Spain, Latvia and Poland. The Polish women will be looking to make their own piece of history at this venue. Back in 2022, it was the Polish men’s U23 team who delivered a miraculous final victory on this very court.

The FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series stop in Bucharest concludes on July 2, but the action at the Metropolitan Circus does not stop there. From July 3 to 5, three stops of the FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League U21 Europe 3 Conference will follow, with Spain, France, Greece, Romania, Serbia and the United Kingdom battling for the conference title. That title guarantees a berth at the FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup 2026 in Wuhan, China, from September 15-19.

The 3×3 basketball marathon at the Metropolitan Circus is organized by City Hall of Sector 2 Bucharest with the support of the Romanian Basketball Federation. FIBA 3×3 partners are: Wilson, Rapid, Mitsubishi Electric, Ulaanbaatar Amazons, Neftci Socar and Beijing Team. Local partners: BCR, Mastercard, BCR Leasing, Regina Maria Private Healthcare Network, Nike, Oxigen Sports Club, Horizon, Popeyes, vitamin aqua, Kandia, BCR Asigurari, Porsche Inter Auto and Kiss FM.
