Tight Finals and a Court Invasion on the Last Day of Competition

If you were looking for pure adrenaline this weekend, Drumul Taberei Park was the place to be. The 3×3 basketball competition delivered drama from start to finish: of the seven finals played on Sunday, four went to overtime, and two of the remaining three were decided by a single point. It would be hard to script more suspense than that.

Ecoland was the standout team of the day, reaching the final in both the men’s and women’s categories. The women’s side came out on top, defeating Farul Constanța 18–17, while the men’s team fell by that same scoreline to FZN 3×3.

The MVP awards went to two athletes with international pedigree. On the men’s side, Bogdan Șomcutean, competing in his first senior tournament, took the honors, though he’s no stranger to the spotlight: last year he was representing Romania in international youth competitions, and he’s also picked up a slam dunk contest win or two along the way. The women’s MVP went to Sonia Cazacu, who brings her own international experience to the court. Both players took home a Tissot watch, courtesy of official importer Albini Prassa.

And if any further proof were needed that the atmosphere matched the quality of the game: after the U16 boys’ final, fans of the winning team stormed the court in a wave of celebration more commonly associated with football.
